Material $ is the material cost per unit. Labor = hours × rate ($/hr) per unit.
Cost / unit is material + labor, with waste applied — it's what an estimate uses before your markup.

Assemblies
Bundle several items into one line — e.g. “Insulated 2×4 wall” = batt + vapor barrier + labor. On an estimate you add the assembly once and enter the quantity; it prices all the parts for you.
